100 Voices, 5 Choirs Sing "Anthem from Chess"

It's finally arrived! After many weeks in the making we are proud to launch our 'virtual choirs' project, involving 100 male voices from five different male voice choirs singing 'Anthem', from the musical 'Chess', to raise money for Crisis this Christmas. We hope that it helps to bring this difficult year for us all to a cheery end.

Individual singers recorded themselves at home and sent their performance in, to be combined together with all the others into a single video. Although you will only hear about four minutes of music this process has taken many hours to put together! Joining the Wycombe Orpheus Male Voice Choir are three others from the South East of England, plus our new friends from down under, the Melbourne Welsh Male Choir.

All choirs are singing under the direction of Jonathan Kilhams, the Musical Director of Weybridge Male Voice Choir, who are the lead choir in the project.

Choirs generally haven't been able to rehearse together for over nine months now, so for exactly 100 singers from different choirs to come together 'virtually' to perform in this collaboration has been quite an emotional experience for them.

This whole project is raising funds for Crisis , the national charity formed in 1967 as an urgent response to the growing homelessness crisis. Since then the charity has helped tens of thousands of people out of homelessness, and campaigned for change.
